چکیده

Objectives . Theoretical studies of the waveguide properties interfaces between nonlinear optical and graded-index media are important for application in optoelectronics. Waveguides combining layers with different seem to be most promising, since they can matched optimal characteristics using a wide range control parameters. The paper aims develop theory composite optically gradedindex waveguides an arbitrary profile, within which it is possible obtain exact analytical expressions surface waves modes explicit form. main feature proposed this its applicability describing modes, field concentrated inside gradient layer does not exceed boundary, avoiding contact layer. Optical similaritons in nonlinear waveguides.

We discover analytically an extensive family of optical similaritons, propagating inside graded-index nonlinear waveguide amplifiers. We show that there exists a one-to-one correspondence between these novel similaritons and standard solitons of the homogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We demonstrate that for certain inhomogeneity and gain profiles, the newly discovered similaritons turn...

Optical pulse compression based on nonlinear silicon waveguides and chirped Bragg gratings

Due to the growing demand for higher bandwidth, employing optical devices instead of electronic devices in data transmission systems has attracted much attention in recent years. Optical switches, modulators and wavelength converters are a few examples of the required optical devices. CMOS compatible fabrication of these devices, leads to much more growing of this technology. Optical limiting properties of nonlinear multimode waveguides.

An experimental investigation of the transmission of multimode capillary waveguides with a nonlinear absorber in the core shows an enhanced nonlinear absorption relative to the same length of bulk material. The results are consistent with partial mode filling within the cores of the waveguides. This study confirms the promising optical limiting capabilities of multimode nonlinear waveguides and...

Nonlinear optical model for strip plasmonic waveguides

This paper presents a theoretical model of nonlinear optical properties for strip plasmonic waveguides. The particular waveguides geometry that we investigate contains a gold core, adhesion layers, and silicon dioxide cladding. It is shown that the third-order susceptibility of the gold core significantly depends on the layer thickness and has the dominant contribution to the effective third-or...

Ion implanted optical waveguides in nonlinear optical organic crystal.

We report for the first time to our knowledge optical waveguiding in an organic crystalline waveguide produced by ion implantation. Using H+ ions a refractive index barrier suitable for waveguiding has been realized in the highly nonlinear optical organic crystal 4-N, N-dimethylamino-4'-N'-methyl-stilbazolium tosylate (DAST). The refractive index changes in the waveguiding region as a function ...
